The Washington DC 48 Hour Film Project
The 48 Hour Film Project comes to DC on the weekend of April 30th. Filmmakers from all over the DC area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world.
Enter today! Space is limited.
This year, teams will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Once the initial registration is complete, we will accept teams for the Waiting List. If a registered team must drop out, we will go to the Waiting List. If there is enough interest, and we can secure additional theater time, we may be able to add more teams from the list.
Early Bird Registration is $135. Teams must register on or before Monday, April 5, to get this special rate. Afterwards, registration is $155.
May 13th, 5:30-7:30pm, 500 8th Street NW, Washington, DC. Stay tuned for more information!
Honoring Aging Women is a social advocacy documentary, which addresses America's attitudes towards women and aging. It critiques how aging women are portrayed in the media and inspires them to re-connect with their value in spite of the media messages they receive everyday. DC Shorts Film Festival 2010
DC Shorts gives all entries feedback from the judging panels — a point which impressed MovieMaker Magazine to name us as “one of 20 festivals worth an entry fee” — two years in a row — and “one of the leading film festivals” in the country. DC Shorts was also chosen by the readers of the Washington City Paper as the area’s best festival (and this region has more than 50 film festivas a year!)
In 2009, DC Shorts reviewed more than 750 films and 85 scripts from around the globe. We selected 100 short films for screenings in 9 unique showcases during the competition weekend. We also read 6 scripts in a special live presentation. Since a major focus of DC Shorts is the inclusion of filmmakers, many of the films and all of the scripts were represented by the more than 108 filmmakers and writers from 8 countries. More than 4,900 people attended the screenings.

We the People is Yachad's new program that offers volunteer opportunities on every federal holiday. If you're off from work and want to do something that will change your community for the better, what better way to celebrate than to volunteer for a few hours, repairing your neighbor's home or a community center down the street. Be sure to join us for our next We the People day of service on Memorial Day (May 24 and 25). Sign up today to reserve your spot. We will be repairing the home of a lower-income homeowner in the Brightwood neighborhood. This is one out of ten houses that Yachad will be repairing in the Brightwood area. After the work day, we will have a block party celebration with all of the volunteers and neighbors.

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a local theater, usually in the next week. In 2008, some 30,000 filmmakers made films in 70 cities around the world. -- http://www.48hourfilm.com
