I love to keep tabs on whats going on in Development. Check out the following: AMC is moving forward with a zombie-themed six-episode series, The Walking Dead based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The one-hour series begins production this June in Atlanta with actor Jon Bernthal playing lead character Shane. AMC plans on debuting The Walking Dead in October 2010 . Early reports on Wednesday about Sarah Palin's new reality show, Sarah Palin's Alaska had the show landing at Discovery Channel. It was picked up Discovery Communications though will instead air on TLC. Discovery Communications acquired the US and international rights to the eight-episode docu-series. Jerry Springer will host GSN's new dating game show, Baggage about people with baggage looking for love. GSN will air Baggage as a daily strip, Monday through Friday at 630p beginning April 19. The network will air 40 total half-hour episodes through June 11. NBC is casting for its new edition of The Apprentice and is looking for business professionals who have been affected by the economic downturn and are ready to go to work again. People of all ages are welcome to apply from recent college grads to executives who are 40+. There will be national open casting calls and more information can be found at nbc.com. Animal Planet brings back a second season of River Monsters with seven new episodes premiering on April 25 at 10p. Viewers will follow extreme angler Jeremy Wade as he tackles freshwater monsters found in the Congo, Thailand, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, Alaska and Florida. Icon Films produces the series for Animal Planet. International media company Cineflix is teaming with actor William Shatner on a new series titled Weird or What? In each episode, Shatner will examine weird things in the world such as paranormal phenomena to strange-looking creatures and medical oddities. Animal Planet is furthering its recent rebrand and content direction by welcoming former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson in his own series titled Taking On Tyson. In this new series, Tyson will introduce viewers to his passion for pigeons and competitive pigeon racing.
